
Jessie B. Manuta, PhD
Dr. Manuta brings twenty (20) years of expertise in climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction (DRR-CCA); resilience building; disaster risk governance; environmental impact assessment and monitoring; and sustainable, secured and empowered enterprises. As an authority on climate change, he has authored and co-authored various scholarly publications on climate change adaptation, vulnerability assessment and disaster management.
Dr. Manuta has conducted research and capacity building projects in the Philippines, USA and Thailand for donor agencies that include Asia Pacific Network (APN); Systems for Analysis, Research, and Training (START); Ford Foundation-Jakarta; Oscar M. Lopez (OML) Center for Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Management Foundation, Inc.; ALMEC Corporation; Oxfam Philippines; CODESPA; Peace Equity Access for Community Empowerment (PEACE) Foundation, Inc.; Foundation of the Philippine Environment (FPE); and Save the Children – Philippines, among others.
He is a member of the Board of Trustees of FPE 3 (Fostering People’s Eduction, Empowerment and Enterprises) and a member of the Experts Advisory Panel of the Foundation for the Philippine Environment in Diliman, Quezon City, Philippines. Dr. Manuta is a mentor and member of the Technical Evaluation Panel of DRR CCA Health Proposals of the Philippine Council for Health Research & Development (PCHRD). He was a Board Member of the Foundation for the Philippine Environment and the Davao Medical School Foundation, Inc.
Dr. Manuta has also held top-level positions in the academe. He served as Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences until 2011 and the Academic Vice President of the Ateneo de Davao University until 2012. He is the current Dean of the Tertiary Education Department of Philippine Women’s College of Davao in Matina, Davao City, Philippines
